Work Experience (selected work)
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative Foundation / Staff Research Scientist, June 2019 - PRESENT, Redwood City, CA
  • Lead author on rbio, a reasoning model for biology that uses world models as soft verifiers — learning from simulations rather than new wet-lab data. Demonstrates strong performance on perturbation prediction (PerturbQA) and shows how compositions of verifiers can yield more general models.
  • Lead author on scGenePT, a foundation model for single-cell perturbation prediction integrating gene expression and language modalities; enabled large-scale simulation-based discovery.
  • Led and mentored research interns and academic collaborators; coordinated benchmarking and model evaluation efforts across teams.
  • Built an NER model to extract mentions of experimental methods and datasets from full-text Biomedical Research Papers. Collaborated with Engineering to bring the model to production in a biomedical research discovery tool.
  • Built an NER model to extract mentions of genes, diseases and chemicals from full-text biomedical papers
  • Built an algorithm to mine Community-based organizations from relevant journal articles
  • Built a personalized ranking algorithm to rank biomedical papers in feeds
  • Implemented an Eigenfactor-based impact metric to rank scientific journals
Chan Zuckerberg Initiative / Research Science Intern, June 2018 - September 2018, Redwood City, CA
  • Developed a Graph Convolutional Network for cross-entity biomedical recommendations (e.g. journal → author, author → concept).
Amazon / Software Development Intern, June 2017 - September 2017, Boston, MA
  • Worked on the Machine Learning Platform team building mechanisms to audit security permissions for Alexa data.
Amazon / Software Development Intern, June 2016 - September 2016, Seattle, WA
  • Built the mobile web application for the Amazon Rewards Visa Credit Card, now deployed globally.
Stanford Computer Science Department / Summer Research Intern, June 2015 - September 2015, Stanford, CA
  • Built a web application to engage high-school students in Computer Science.
